Behaviour - Positive Approaches to Working Together

We have a positive approach to behaviour where staff and pupils have a clear sense of what is important, what will be valued and what will not be tolerated. The school is committed to establishing and maintaining a high standard of behaviour using a clear system of rewards and sanctions.

Overall expectations for behaviour are summed up in our 4 Golden Guidelines:

Be kind and helpful to other.

Respect what they think, say and do.

Be safe, sensible and truthful.

Try your best.

Take pride in everything you do.

Look after our School and everything in it.

These guidelines are complemented by class rules which each class devises together each year. These are reviewed as necessary each term.

Rewards and sanctions support these guidelines and rules. Rewards may include receiving stars and sticker and other classroom incentives such as 'Golden Time'. Particular achievements are celebrated by awarding certificates in our weekly merit assembly. Where behaviour is unacceptable, sanctions may include loss of playtime, referral to other members of staff and, if necessary, the setting up of a behaviour record. This allows us to monitor behaviour closely, share the outcomes with parents and set clear goals for improvement.

Where your child's behaviour is a cause for particular concern or celebration, our aim is to involve you as closely as possible from an early stage. Please help us by sharing any background you might be able to provide. The Parent/School partnership is never more valuable than in this area.
